Glendora calls itself the Pride of the Foothills, and much of the city really is built into them.
Glendora's foothill homes sit right against the San Gabriel Mountains, so they get strong summer sun, Santa Ana wind days and smoke when fires burn in the hills. Marco's technicians repair and replace AC, improve filtration and clean or seal ducts across the city. Our Duarte office is a short trip east on the 210. Call (626) 879-0711 any hour, 24/7.
Overview
Glendora calls itself the Pride of the Foothills, and much of the city really is built into them. North of Foothill Boulevard, streets climb toward the mountains with larger lots, ranch homes from the 1950s through the 1970s and newer custom houses on the slopes. Closer to the Village downtown and along Route 66, older homes and postwar tracts fill the flatter land. Glendora Mountain Road leads up from the north side of town into the hills.
Living this close to the mountains means beautiful views and a real fire season. Smoke from fires in the forest and foothills settles into neighborhoods, and ash can find its way into attics, ducts and filters. Our work in Glendora often pairs AC service with air quality: tighter returns, better filters and duct cleaning when debris is present. We explain what we see in the system and quote before any work begins.

Foothill ranch homes in north Glendora are often long, single-story houses with big windows facing the valley and attic ducts that run the full length of the house. The west-facing rooms take heavy afternoon sun, and the far bedroom at the end of a long duct run is usually the warmest room in summer. Some hillside houses have the outdoor unit on a terrace or slope. Larger custom homes may have two systems or zoning, and pool equipment shares the yard with the condenser.
Homes in the flatter parts of Glendora, near the Village and south toward Route 66, are smaller postwar houses with closet or attic furnaces and AC added later. Their ducts are often original and loosely connected. When a home has been through a smoke season or two, those leaky ducts and returns can pull attic dust and fine ash into the living space.
Common problems
After nearby fires, fine ash can settle in attics and get drawn into leaky return ducts. Owners notice a smoky smell when the system starts. Sealing returns and cleaning ducts helps.
The last bedroom on a long ranch-house duct run often gets weak airflow. Crushed flex duct, loose collars and undersized branches are the common causes we find in the attic.
Wind days push leaves, dust and seed pods against condenser coils. A clogged coil raises pressures and power use. A gentle coil rinse and clear space around the unit help.
Glendora afternoons often pass the high 90s. Older systems run nonstop, and worn capacitors, failing fan motors and low refrigerant from slow leaks show up during the longest heat stretches.
Condensers placed near pool pumps or chemical storage can corrode faster. We look at coil condition and suggest relocating or protecting the unit when corrosion is starting.
Most requested
Indoor air quality work and whole-home air purifiers make a real difference in a foothill city that sees smoke seasons. A purifier or higher-grade media filter at the furnace catches fine particles every time the blower runs. Duct cleaning removes settled ash and debris when it is actually present, and duct sealing keeps attic air from being pulled back in. AC repair and AC replacement cover the long, hot summers, especially in older ranch homes where the system is near the end of its life.

Learn moreGlendora summers often reach the high 90s and pass 100 F during heat waves, and winter nights near the foothills can dip into the 30s. Santa Ana winds blow through the foothills several times a year. Electricity comes from Southern California Edison and gas from SoCalGas, so ask about current SCE or SoCalGas rebates and state heat pump incentives when funding is open. We handle the permit where the city requires one.
From our Duarte office we take the 210 east or follow Foothill Boulevard through Azusa. Some streets in the north Glendora foothills are steep, narrow or gated, so tell us about gate codes and parking when you call (626) 879-0711. If you smell smoke indoors during a fire event, set the system to recirculate, keep windows closed and replace a loaded filter as soon as it is safe.
Questions
Only if there is debris to remove. We first inspect the returns, the blower and a few duct runs in your Glendora home. If ash or soot is present, cleaning removes it and helps clear the smell. If the ducts are clean, a filter change and sealed returns may be all you need. We show you what we find before recommending anything.
For most Glendora homes, a high-grade media filter cabinet at the furnace or air handler is the most practical choice, because it filters all the air every time the blower runs. Some owners add an electronic or polarized purifier. We check the blower and return size first, since a dense filter needs enough return area to keep airflow up.
Long duct runs lose air and pick up attic heat before they reach the last room. We look for crushed or disconnected flex duct, undersized branches and leaky joints. Fixes include resizing that run, sealing joints, adding a return path, or a small ductless unit for that room. We measure airflow so the fix matches the cause.
Yes. Our technicians work in the north Glendora foothills often. Let us know about gate codes, steep driveways or limited parking when you call (626) 879-0711, and mention if the outdoor unit sits on a slope or terrace so we bring the right ladders and plan enough time for the visit.
Call our Pasadena line any hour. A person answers, asks a few questions about the system, and gives you an arrival window.
